Topps Timeless Series’ Auctions Highly Coveted 1-of-1 1952 Mickey Mantle Baseball Card NFT

The advent of the digital age has paved the way for countless technological innovations such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which is seeing a rise in demand for the immortalization of digital collectibles like art and sports memorabilia. As such, this innovation has ushered in a new age of collecting. In line with this, Topps is gearing up for the upcoming release of a one-of-a-kind NFT collectible.

The company recently announced a unique 1 of 1 NFT Auction for a Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle Card NFT, which will go live on the OpenSea platform on March 1st at 1 PM EST and end on March 4th at 1 PM EST. Any bid placed within the last ten minutes will extend the auction by an additional ten minutes.

The auction, done in cooperation with Major League Baseball and the Mantle Estate, is of a one-of-one extremely rare NFT that will be minted as an ERC-721 token on the Ethereum blockchain. Imagery of the rare, vintage collectible is a direct digital scan of an actual baseball card in the original Topps 1952 release, pulled from Topps’ digital archives and inserted into the NFT showcase. The NFT collectible is a stunning recreation of the iconic Topps baseball card, complete with video imagery of memorabilia that celebrates Mickey Mantle’s legacy.

This will mark a momentous occasion in the history of NFTs as the highly sought-after baseball card NFT collectible is the first-ever licensed MLB NFT to be auctioned on OpenSea. Participating in the auction can be done in four simple steps. First, participants must connect their wallets to the OpenSea page. Next, they should ensure they have enough Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) balance that corresponds to their bid amount. Those who have inadequate funds can simply convert their ETH to WETH.

Third, they just need to click the “Place Bid” button and make sure that their bid is more than the current highest. Lastly, they can monitor the auction to see if someone else has overtaken their bid. On top of owning the highly coveted NFT, the auction winner will also have the rare opportunity to have a 30-minute video interview with Mickey Mantle’s sons, Danny and David Mantle.

The Topps Timeless Series celebrates the company’s most rare and sought-after baseball cards through exclusive, premium one-of-one NFT collectibles. The auction hopes to gain the attention of a wider audience of like-minded individuals who are sports fans, memorabilia collectors, NFT enthusiasts, and more.

More information about the Topps Timeless Series can be found on Topps NFTs’ social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Topps also has a dedicated Discord server where collectors can engage with the growing community.
