Toy Story 5 – Pixar produced the third Toy Story animated film in 2010.

Peter Docter, a Pixar executive, is aware of the outrage and, instead of keeping silent, has stepped out to defend the choice to approve Toy Story 5.

According to the Chief Creative Officer, the majority of Toy Story 5 is still up in the air, which means fans may be caught off guard.

“The thing we’ve been really trying to do, and this has been the case for a while, is we’ve been looking at them a little bit like, okay, we’re not planning for the future,” said Docter.

“When we made the first Toy Story, we had no idea there would be a Toy Story 2. We’re just trying to make this movie.”

“But that in making the movie, it takes you places, unexpected places, which is what I love about the creative process.”

“If I knew exactly what I was doing when I started making a movie, there’d kind of be no point in making it,” he continued.

“I discover so much along the way. I think it’ll be surprising. It’s got some really cool stuff that you haven’t seen before.”

The statements of Peter Docter provide some light on Pixar’s motivation for Toy Story 5.

Rather than changing the last film’s ending or aiming to generate money, Pixar intends to take the series in a new direction.

I Am Legend sequel confirms the real ending

The 2007 Will Smith movie I Am Legend was one of the works of media that received the greatest attention.

The split climax of the film led to a number of misunderstandings.

Although the theatrical ending gave the impression that it was a single effort, the alternate ending raised expectations for a sequel.

Will Smith will return to the film as Dr. Robert Neville, hence the alternative ending has officially been accepted as canon.

Will Smith playing the same part in many sequel films has been considered throughout the years.

The earliest days before the infected overran New York would have been depicted in a 2008 proposal, which was eventually abandoned.

No action was taken after a second proposal.

Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan will serve as producers and performers for the I Am Legend sequel, which was officially revealed last year.

The first movie

I Am Legend, a 1954 book by Richard Matheson, served as a loose inspiration for the post-apocalyptic movie from 2007.

In the movie, a virus causes mass extinction, leaving just Robert Neville in New York.

Originally intended to treat cancer, the virus instead transformed its victims into Darkseekers, mutant vampires that only come to life at night.

Neville seeks to use his blood to create a cure with his immunity.

Sam, Neville’s sole canine companion, dies, and Neville leads an assault on the Darkseekers.

Two immune humans called Anna and Ethan respond to his broadcast and rush to save him.

Once Robert Neville discovers the remedy, the alpha Darkseeker that had been pursuing them the previous evening attacks his home.

Before imprisoning Anna and Ethan in a coal tunnel, Neville administers the cure to them.

He then kills himself and the Darkseekers with a grenade.

After that, Anna and Ethan arrive at a camp for survivors where they give the cure to the soldiers.

Alternate ending

The alternative conclusion is a little bit more in line with the book.

When the Darkseekers invade Neville’s lab, the alpha doodles a butterfly that strikingly resembles the tattoo on the female Darkseeker that Neville had caught.

He returns the female instead of engaging in combat, which causes the alpha to look down on him and consider murdering him.

But, the alpha and the rest of the Darkseekers disperse.

Neville is aware that they think of him as a monster.

The next morning, he gives up looking for a cure and goes with Anna and Ethan to look for a survivors’ colony.

Inspiration

The changed ending will be followed by the subsequent I Am Legend sequel.

According to screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, the sequel will take place a number of decades after the alternative conclusion.

He also highlighted how The Last of Us’ HBO version was an inspiration.

“I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20 – 30 year lapse,” said Goldsman.

“You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens?”

“That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless.”

In order to be more clear, Goldsman opted to adapt the alternate ending’s plot for the sequel.

“What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end,” said the writer.

“That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”

The director of I Am Legend 2 is still unknown because the film is still in the planning phases.

Avatar: The Way of Water has had its first screening for critics, while fans still have to wait until later this December.

The sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 film recently received its first wave of reviews.

Cameron’s highly anticipated project was worth the wait as Avatar: The Way of Water received critical acclaim.

Reception

The reviews will have fans counting down the days until the theatrical release of Avatar: The Way of Water later this month.

Brandon Davis of Comicbook had nothing but positive words for the film, calling it a “visual feast.”

“Avatar: The Way of Water, being more than 3 hours long, is both fulfilling and indulgent,” wrote Davis.

“It still ends wanting you to know a third is coming.”

“Constantly a visual feast, creative plays with frame rate, and never boring despite. Overall, I liked it.”

Meanwhile, CNN’s Tom Page said the film was vastly better than the original.

“#AvatarTheWayOfWater is “more is more” writ large,” Page tweeted.

“It’s more beautiful, more in awe of Pandora; more vocal in its environmentalism, more damning of humans.”

“It’s an adrenaline shot to 3D filmmaking and an uncompromising doubling down,” he continued. “You’d expect nothing less from Cameron.”

Perri Nemiroff of Collider praised the film and said it was “mind-blowing.”

She also noted that Avatar: The Way of Water has an abiding sense of “serving the character and the building.”

The film

According to Digital Spy, Avatar: The Way of Water picks up the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Ney’tiri (Zoe Saldana).

In the sequel, the protagonists of the first film start a family.

However, an ancient threat resurfaced on Pandora.

In addition, Jake has an extra conflict with an aggressive war against humans.

Fans of the first Avatar movie have been waiting for the sequel for over a decade, and Cameron recently shared that he’s developing the fourth film.

James Cameron revealed that he’s already shot parts of Avatar 3 with a direction of ​​where Avatar 6 and 7 should go.

However, he shared that he might not direct the later films, adding that he was ready to hand over the reins to a different director.

The director admitted that the production of the Avatar movies was “all-consuming”, suggesting he might not be able to helm the post-Avatar: The Way of the Water franchise.

“I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting,” Cameron shared.

“I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or after four – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over.”
