The Apple event finally launched on September 7, and fans were treated to three of the tech giants’ upcoming devices.
The line of Apple Watch, Airpods and iPhone 14 was presented to the public and was praised by viewers around the world.
Here we take a look at one of the most polarizing devices of the event: the Apple Watches.
The lineup
Apple has introduced three new Apple Watches: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra.
The Apple Watch Series 8 offers three new devices that at first glance look identical to the previous line. However, a closer look reveals that this will not be the case.
Apple Watch Series 8
The Apple Watch Series 8 has a similar design to the Series 7, but the most important thing is the features, which are also available on the SE and Ultra.
The 8 Series is equipped with an always active retina display enriched by a tear-resistant crystal on the front.
Under normal use, the battery can last up to 36 hours with an existing iPhone when power saving mode is enabled.
The Apple Watch Series 8 also added a new temperature sensing feature.
Apple has also developed an advanced sensor fusion algorithm used to detect watch collisions in real accidents.
The function includes motion data, barometer, GPS and microphone.
When a user is involved in a car accident, the device alerts them and calls emergency services if they do not respond after a 10-second countdown.
Apple Watch SE
The entry-level model comes with a few design changes that break up the look of the Apple Watch Series 3.
The SE also features the advanced S8 SiP dual-core processor found in the other two new Apple Watches, making it 20% faster.
Apple Watch Ultra
The Apple Watch Ultra, the flagship of the line, takes its name seriously and becomes the most durable piece of technology Apple has made to date.
“Inspired by explorers and athletes from around the world, we created an entirely new category of Apple Watch designed for new extreme environments,” explained Apple’s chief operating officer Jeff Williams.
“It’s the most rugged and capable Apple Watch yet.”
“Apple Watch Ultra is a versatile tool that empowers users to push their boundaries with adventure, endurance, and exploration.”
Compared to other aluminum models, the Ultra is made of aerospace-grade titanium, which offers the perfect balance of corrosion resistance, durability and weight.
The Apple Watch Ultra is specially designed for extreme water sports, scuba diving and runners.
It includes accurate dual-frequency GPS integrating L1 and L5 and new positioning algorithms.
The Ultra also offers the most accurate GPS, allowing users to see accurate distance, pace and route data during training or competition.
The latest Apple Watch also runs on watchOS 9, giving it the tools athletes need and helping them hone their strengths.
Apple Watch Ultra also offers many of the same features as the other new devices, including two new motion sensors and an advanced sensor fusion algorithm.
