Flytrex: The Drone Delivery Company Making Waves in the Industry

Flytrex is one of the most innovative delivery providers that has caused a sensation with the use of drones for its services in the United States.

The company is one of many to benefit from the technological innovations of the modern age.

Flytrex

Flytrex was founded in Israel in late 2013, but it wasn’t until 2017 that the company would start its operations.

The first regulatory-approved operational delivery services were offered in Reykjavik, Iceland, where it became a leader in on-demand delivery services via autonomous vehicles.

The company became the first in the world to offer complete end-to-end drone delivery solutions.

Drone capabilities

Flytrex drones can carry packages weighing up to 6.6 lbs or 3 kg.

Flytrex uses an attached delivery box to ensure customers receive their orders as packaged.

Using a fire release mechanism, the parcel is lowered 25m, ensuring quiet and safe delivery – from food and drinks to a dozen eggs.

Drone speed

They are also capable of covering a distance of around 6 air miles.

The drones typically fly at 52 km/h, allowing the company to reach customers in less than five minutes and keep food hot or cold at the destination.

Carbon footprint

Flytrex drones are also autonomous, meaning no one has to fly them.

The drones are fully electric and leave less carbon footprint compared to traditional delivery models.

Flytrex CEO and co-founder Yariv Bash said:

“It’s a lot faster and a lot quieter. We offer a much better solution for the customer and the restaurant. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Despite its innovative concept, the company has a team of FAA-certified drone operators who oversee each delivery to ensure operations run smoothly. Flytrex app

The Flytrex app allows customers to order food from partner restaurants within the company’s delivery zone.

The app’s services are contactless, so users can order from the comfort of their home.

Flytrex Market

Yariv Bash said the company targets suburban markets as it is economically and strategically feasible to serve those areas.

However, he also discussed the process of obtaining permission from the FAA to fly drones, saying it was easier to protect them in the suburbs than in urban environments.

“This is a very nasty process,” Bash said of the FAA clearance process.

“Only three companies focused on home drone delivery are doing what we’re doing.”

A Hit-And-Run in South Side Chicago Kills Three and One in Serious Injuries

On Sunday morning, Chicago’s South Side continued to witness car-related crimes as a fatal accident left three dead and another injured.

What happened

According to Chicago police, three men were killed while one was lucky enough to survive, barely escaping death and making it out with severe injuries.

Witnesses and family members revealed that the situation started from a fight inside a bar during the night.

Although most of the fights typically end, things took a turn for the worse when they took their fight outside.

Footage

ABC7 Chicago has received footage showing the horrific incident at 70th and Jeffrey.

The video shows a group of men who appeared to be fighting in the middle of the road when a south-bound sedan hit them.

The fatal accident occurred at 5 in the morning.

Several shoes were seen scattered on the sidewalk, demonstrating the violence of the incident.

The vehicle escaped, according to police.

The victims

Three of the victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Police report that they have been pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified two of the victims as 27-year-old Devonta Vivetter and 25-year-old Donald Huey.

Meanwhile, the fourth man has been transported to Stroger Hospital.

Although his injuries are serious, he is in stable condition.

Family and witnesses

Vivetter’s cousin Anita spoke to ABC7 but declined to show her face. She says:

“I’ve been crying all day. It’s just– I can’t believe it.”

She also said the fight started just steps from the Jeffrey Pub.

“Someone jumped in they [sic] car and ran them over. Saw that they were fighting, jumped in the car and ran them over,” she added.

“He didn’t deserve it. And for you to keep going like! This is ridiculous!”

A witness added to the account and said:

“It’s no way you couldn’t have seen the folks in the middle of the street. And for you to keep going like that, this is ridiculous.”

“You could just hear down the street: boom, boom, other people were getting hit,” they added.

“I was just focused on who I was in front of: the victim. The victim that was in front of me. I was just focused on him.”

“It’s just sad to see our community in such devastation.”

Member of the Dr. Mark Stearnes community commented on the situation and said: “Not only is there no regard for the law, but there is no regard for life.”

Aftermath

Residents demand more to stop the ruthless and reckless driving.

Meanwhile, police are currently looking for the driver who shot and killed the three men.

The Jeffrey Pub also released a statement on social media that reads:

“Our hearts are heavy this morning that such a tragic event has occurred. And to those that lost a loved one or friend, we stand with you. We always encourage everyone to leave and go to your vehicles right away to make it home safe.”

The Russia-Ukraine War: How the Drones Are Used

Russia and Ukraine used a wide range of weapons and technologies, but drones were the main weapon for both sides.

Thousands of drones were used during the invasion to locate, launch missiles and direct artillery fire on the enemy.

Ukraine

As both sides use different technology, Ukraine has deployed a military drone, the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2.

Drones are the size of small aircraft with cameras and can be armed with laser-guided bombs.

Dr. Jack Watling of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) research center says Ukraine started with Bayraktar’s fleet of “less than 50”.

Russia

According to Dr. Watling, Russia mainly used Orlan-10, a small and simple UAV.

“Russia started the war with some thousands of them, and may have a few hundred left,” he said.

Orlan drones have cameras and can carry small bombs.

Drone effectiveness

Two drones helped locate enemy targets and directed artillery fire.

“Russian forces can bring their guns to bear on the enemy within only three to five minutes of an Orlan-10 drone spotting a target,” noted Dr. Watling.

However, without it, the attack can last 20-30 minutes.

Dr. Marina Meron, a defense researcher at King’s College London, noted that drones have allowed Ukraine to expand its limited military.

“If you wanted to seek out enemy positions in the past, you would have had to send out special forces units to do it,” she says.

“You might lose some troops. Now, all you’re risking is a drone.”

When the war broke out, the usefulness of Bayraktar drones was widely praised in Ukraine.

“They were shown attacking targets, such as ammunition dumps, and played a part in the sinking of the [warship] Moskva,” Dr. Miron said.

Though widely applauded, many Bayraktar were destroyed by enemy defenses over the course of several months.

“They are largely, relatively slow-moving, and fly at only medium altitude,” Dr. Watling pointed out.

“That makes them easy to shoot down.”

Non-military drones

The high price makes it difficult to replace the drone. For example, the Bayraktar TB2 is priced at $2 million.

As a result, Ukraine uses small commercial models like the DJI Mavic 3, which costs just over $2,000.

A Ukrainian drone manufacturer speculates that the country has deployed 6,000 drones, but there is no confirmation.

Commercial drones can be equipped with small bombs, but are mainly used to identify and directly attack enemy forces.

Commercial drones have a range of only 30km and a travel time of 46 minutes, making them less powerful than military drones.

“Ukraine doesn’t have as much ammunition as Russia,” says Dr. Miron.

“Having ‘eyes in the sky’ to spot targets and direct artillery fire means they can make better use of what they have.”

Drone suppliers

The White House says Russia has acquired Sahid military drones from Iran.

Houthi rebels in Yemen are using the same drones to attack targets in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has received a shipment of 700 “Kamikaze” Switchblade military aircraft from the United States.

Drones are filled with explosives and hover in the air until they find a target.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX also offers satellite communications in Ukraine which offers a safe relationship between drones and operators.

DJI stopped delivering drones in Russia and Ukraine.

Payments for Ukrainian drones

In addition to US donations, Ukraine has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the purchase of 200 military drones.

“As well as large drones like [Bayraktar] TB2, they are looking for small, fixed-wing reconnaissance drones,” said Dr. Watling.

Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision Song Contest “Kalush Orchestra” sold the trophy for $900,000.

They donated money to invite UAVs to purchase three Ukrainian PD-2 drones.

Award-Winning English Band Muse to Launch Ninth Album as NFT

While NFTs mostly revolve around digital art, musical NFTs are on the rise and legendary rock band Muse will join the NFT space with their ninth studio album.

The album

Muse will release the studio album Will of the People on August 26. This will be the very first release in the UK and Australia.

Will of the People is the band’s latest album, the latest since 2015 to be chart-eligible.

Prior to the conception of the album, the last format accepted by the international charts was the album stream.

Will of the People will be Digital Pressing’s flagship album on the Web3 Serenade Marketplace.

Serenade

The Web3 market created Digital Pressings to bea new limited edition and collectible music format released as NFTs.

Serenade uses the format to highlight community connectivity and product scarcity.

“Digital Pressings allow the music industry to easily slow NFTs into existing workflows and creative processes without having to fund new projects or design new ways of working,” said Max Shand, founder and CEO of Serenade.

“If you want to innovate in the music industry, innovate around the album cycle, because this is how the industry operates.”

In February, Serenade teamed up with the Brit Awards to showcase their NFT collection, which sold for $12.25 each.

NFT in music

The partnership between the band and Serenade is not the first to mark NFT’s involvement in the music industry.

NFTs used to be grouped into album releases or other types of music-related campaigns.

Will of the People is set to be the first full album as NFT.

While NFT albums existed as a graphic format before, Muse’s album will be the first to fall under these standards.

The Digital Pressing format offers a new standard in royalty management.

Serenade released an official press release, saying that “living on the blockchain and offering Web3 capabilities such as verifiable ownership and the ability to trade on secondary markets, a Digital Pressing will also accrue accurate, perpetual royalties for artists, copyright holders and content owners.”

Muse

Muse is an English rock band formed in 1994 but later released their debut album in 1999.

The group won the NME Awards for Best British Group in 2007, 2010 and 2011 and also won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2011 and 2016.

Muse first dived into the crypto space in 2020, collaborating with Dapper Lab’s CryptoKitties to create digital collectibles.

A year later, the band released their own NFT collection on Nifty Gateway.

The sentiments

Music industry experts believe the partnership is another step towards the future of music.

“Muse have always had a great appetite for innovation and pushing the boundaries of how they deliver their music to fans,” said Shand.

“So using this technology to elevate the experience of their new album made a lot of sense.”

“Muse was an obvious choice to be the first artist to offer fans a Digital pressing as they’re innovative and have a die hard audience of completist fans who have always displayed an appetite to collect great merchandise from the band,” he added.

Prey (2022): More Than Just Another Hollywood Reboot

Prey is Hollywood’s latest remake/reboot film and continues the story of the alien hunter that debuted in the late 1980s.

Rather than continue the mess left by the 2018 movie Predators, Prey director Dan Trachtenberg decided to start over and bring audiences back to one of the earliest Predator stories.

Warning: spoilers ahead

Movie synopsis

“A skilled Comanche warrior protects her tribe from a highly evolved alien predator that hunts humans for sport, fighting against wilderness, dangerous colonizers, and this dangerous creature to keep her people safe.”

Plot

Prey introduces viewers to a time when machine guns didn’t become our first line of defense against alien threats.

In 1719, we meet Amber Midthunders Naru, a Comanche who yearns to prove herself as a warrior.

Naru sees the Predator’s arrival and believes it is a sign that she is ready to undergo the ritual to cement her status as a warrior.

When one of their hunters goes missing, Naru and her brother Taabe go in search of one of them.

While tracking down their tribe members, Naru is the only person to notice the unusual footprints and skinned rattlesnake – the remnants of the Predator’s hunt for a worthy opponent.

Naru helps Taabe track down the cougar who injured their hunter.

Naru weakens the wildcat before being knocked out in a fall after witnessing a burst of light from the forest.

Back in the village, Taabe takes the honor and title of the chieftain, leading Naru to hunt down the greatest threat to the tribe.

Accompanied by her dog Sarii, Naru comes across a field full of skinned bison.

On the journey, she is attacked by a grizzly bear who corners her in a beaver dam before witnessing the threat and brute strength of the Predator.

Naru narrowly escapes before encountering members of her tribe who have been sent to find her.

They take her by force before meeting the Predator, who efficiently reduces their number.

Again, Naru escaped before being captured by the French colonizers.

They use her and a captured Taabe as bait to lure the Predator, which quickly kills the French colonizers.

Naru returns to their camp and helps an injured Raphael Adolini, by giving him herbs that reduce his body heat, making him invisible to the Predator.

A step on his injured leg causes him to scream in pain, and he is killed, but Naru now knows how to get the upper hand against her enemy.

Taabe arrives on horseback to save his sister as he weakens the Predator.

However, the alien manages to kill Taabe. Naru takes Adolini’s rifle and escapes.

She later captures one of the French and uses him as bait for the Predator.

The Predator falls for it, and Naru uses the herb to sneak up behind it and shoot it in the head, disabling its helmet.

She drags the Predator into a swamp and uses its helmet’s projectile weapons against it.

The Predator dies from its wounds, and Naru decapitates the Predator before painting her face in its blood, taking its head and Adolini’s weapon with him.

Returning to the tribe, she is celebrated for her victory and becomes the new war chief.

Towards the end of the credits, a cave painting depicts three Predator ships emerging from the sky.

The cast

  • Amber Midthunder as Naru
  • Dakota Beavers as Taabe
  • Dane DiLiegro in the role of the Predator
  • Stormee Kipp as Wasape
  • Bennett Taylor as Raphael Adolini
  • Michelle Thrush as Aruka
  • Julian Black Antelope as Chief Kehetu

Review

One of the best sequels for the (small) screen, Prey combines modern technology with a nostalgic formula.

In a time when movies rely primarily on the green screen to tell a story, this Predator sequel takes viewers back to where the series began: in the wild.

The story works perfectly and shows the Predator before it became one of the deadliest hunters chasing Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny Glover and Adrien Brody in its game.

Although not as technologically advanced as previous films, the film’s Predator features everything that made it a sci-fi icon – the invisibility cloak, projectile weapons (replacing cannons with mini darts) and the retractable blade.

The Predator’s helmet is also different, using a skull-like design that fits the era perfectly.

Prey didn’t have to rely heavily on CGI effects for his monster (aside from the invisible cloak scenes) and kept it pretty much the same as in previous films.

Dane DiLiegro has done a spectacular job that truly honors the legacy of the late Kevin Peter Hall, the original Predator.

In addition to the significant details of the Predator look, the production team’s efforts to portray the Comanche tribe in the film deserve credit for its accurate clothing, village setting, and hunting lifestyle.

Also not to be missed is the performance of Amber Midthunder.

Midthunder may be a new name for many, but she’s been in Hollywood for over two decades.

While online critics would quickly point to Naru’s characterization as another “Mary Sue,” their sentiments seem to be based on the trailer alone.

Throughout the film, Midthunder’s Naru showed intelligence in understanding the enemy’s strengths and weaknesses (noting the use of its shield and vision).

Rather than being “the last girl,” she displays the same spirit as beloved characters like Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley and Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor.

Despite the short run time, director Dan Trachtenberg managed his time wisely by enriching the backstory of Amber Midthunder’s character and the Predator before their eventual confrontation.

Trachtenberg has found the right balance to give viewers enough story to root for Naru as he built the Predator’s revelation, a task that usually ends with sloppy execution.

Prey also did well in attracting mainstream and Comanche audiences by shooting the film in both English and Comanche.

Overall, Prey managed to hit all the right notes.

Links to previous movies

Prey offers something new and familiar, which is why he receives positive words from all over the world.

Here we look at what connects Prey to other Predator standalone films.

Predator (1987)

The father of the franchise, Predator is famous for its story, which pits a group of seasoned veterans against an unknown enemy.

Predator and Prey share the same natural environment, so fans were excited to see how the final product would turn out, especially as Naru was without the weapons Schwarzenegger had at his disposal.

However, people tend to forget that even Schwarzenegger’s character gave up bullets to use his wits to take on the Predator – the same way Midthunder’s Naru finished off her enemy.

Dakota Beavers Taabe also repeats the iconic line, “If it bleeds, we can kill it.”

Predator 2 (1990)

The often overlooked sequel, Predator 2 is the movie that ties directly into Prey as the former Predator throws the same gun at Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) that Naru took.

The gun might hint that a sequel might be underway, and the reception only reinforces that sentiment.

Predators (2010)

The 2010 action movie was the first to feature the different types of predators.

Prey continues this trend by wearing a Predator design initially used for the 1987 film and later used in the 2010 sequel.

It is possible that the helmet used here came from the same creature that attacked Adrien Brody in the film.

The Predator (2018)

Prey’s predecessor is the only film unrelated to it.

Singer, pop icon, and actress Olivia Newton-John passes away aged 73

Pop culture icon Olivia Newton-John died Monday at the age of 73, her family reported on her official social media pages.

The statement

“Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends,” wrote the statement on her official Facebook page.

“We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

Remembering Olivia Newton-John

From the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Olivia Newton-John has been one of the most famous celebrities in the world.

Her role in Sandy on Grease cemented her legacy, with songs like Physical becoming the number 1 single of the decade.

In her five-decade career, she has sold over 100 million records.

Although known for her musical talent and her rendition of Grease, Olivia Newton-John has made waves by bringing cancer to people’s attention – a topic that has largely been hushed in Hollywood.

She received her first diagnosis in 1992.

Since then, Newton-John has been a strong advocate for breast cancer survivors.

“I think, you know, what you think creates your reality. So it’s a decision. You have to make that decision,” the singer said in 2019.

“You can be a victim, or you can be a winner and enjoy your life.”

Early Career

Although born in England, Olivia Newton-John and her family later moved to Australia where she appeared on a TV talent show.

She would also form a girl group and form a pop duo with her friend Pat Carroll.

It wasn’t until she embarked on a solo career that Newton-John had her breakthrough. In 1973, the singer received her first Grammy Award,

Grease

Director Randal Kleiser soon realized he wanted Olivia Newton-John to play Sandy.

Although her talent as a singer was already well known, her acting left some concerns.

“Olivia Newton-John was our first choice for the part of Sandy, but she had a few concerns,” he recalled.

“She had had a bad experience on an English film and didn’t want to repeat it.”

“At 29 years old, she wasn’t sure she would look the part of a 17-year-old and wanted to make sure she and John looked like they could be contemporaries,” Kleiser added.

“He was a bit younger (at 23). She asked to have a screen test so she could see how she would come across and feel how the chemistry would be between she and John and myself.”

The tests were successful, as can be seen today.

“She embodied the character in the beginning of the film, and we all hoped she could pull off the sexy vixen at the end,” said Kleiser.

“We couldn’t have been more thrilled by the final result.”

“Physical”

After her success with Grease, Newton-John was unable to replicate the same level of success.

However, in the early 1980s, he saw it flourish in the world of music.

In 1981, his song “Physical” became the biggest hit of the decade and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for weeks. patronage

In 1991, Newton-John became involved in cancer research.

His determination came after the death of his best friend’s daughter due to a rare form of the disease in childhood.

Newton-John’s involvement became even more personal after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

As he went into remission, the cancer returned in 2013 and 2017.

Tributes

On Monday afternoon, many celebrities paid their respects to Olivia Newton-John. John Travolta posted on Instagram and wrote:

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”

“I don’t know if I’ve known a lovelier human being,” Grease co-star Stockard Channing wrote.

“Olivia was the essence of summer – her sunniness, her warmth, and her grace are what always come to mind when I think of her. I will miss her enormously.”

Another pop culture icon of the 70s and 80s, actress Suzanne Somers, released a statement in which she stated:

“There is a sisterhood that grows larger every year. It’s a sisterhood you never want to join, but when allowed entry, you find great comfort with other sisters.”

“Olivia provided great comfort for me when diagnosed 25 years ago. Her fight was my fight, as she won, I won,” Somers continued.

“She taught all of us so much through her bravery and “never give up” philosophy. We got strength through Olivia and her example of life.”

“As a 70’s icon, she lived a full life. I loved her, and I will miss my “sister” forever.”

Donald Trump confirms the FBI investigated his Florida home for a document investigation

The FBI executed a search warrant on Monday at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida to investigate the handling of presidential documents.

According to CNN, the investigation includes confidential documents that three people familiar with the situation believe could have been brought to the area.

Trump confirms FBI presence

The former US president’s social media confirmed that “a large group” of federal agents broke into his Florida residence in an “unannounced raid”.

Trump also said, “They even broke into my safe.”

“My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” he said in a statement.

“These are dark times for our nation. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”

Trump was not present when officers arrived and were seen exiting Trump Tower in New York.

The Department of Justice

The decision to raid the home of a former president raises the stakes for the Department of Justice.

The crackdown also marks the start of Trump’s legal troubles, which are piling up on multiple fronts.

Trump is expected to announce that he will submit another bid for the 2024 White House in a few months.

It is now known that the Department of Justice has two active investigations related to the former president: one into the attempted cancellation of the 2020 and January 6, 2021 presidential elections, and the other into the handling of classified documents.

The search

The FBI raid began early Monday morning, with law enforcement focused on searching Trump’s offices and personal quarters.

The search examined where the documents were kept and where the boxes containing the objects were.

The FBI must have verified on Monday that nothing had been forgotten.

Eric Trump, the former president’s son, told Fox host Sean Hannity that the raid was carried out “because the National Archives wanted to, you know, corroborate whether or not Donald Trump had any documents in his possession.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s attorney Christina Bobb said the FBI seized the documents.

“President Trump and his legal team have been cooperative with FBI and DOJ officials every step of the way,” said Bobb.

“The FBI did conduct an unannounced raid and seized paper.”

Trump supporters talk about the situation

The search posts sparked a backlash from Trump supporters as a group gathered outside Mar-A-Lago to wave flags and express their anger.

Kevin McCarthy, Republican Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, said:

“I’ve seen enough. The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.”

Florida Senator Marco Rubio took to Twitter to comment.

“Using government power to persecute political opponents is something we have seen many times from 3rd world Marxist dictatorships,”  he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he had cooperated with all relevant government agencies and said the raid on his home was “not necessary or appropriate”.

The former president said it was “prosecutorial misconduct,” adding that the “weaponization of the justice system” is meant to prevent him from running for the White House again.

“Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World countries,” said Trump.

“Sadly, America has not become one of those countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe.”

US continues to aid Ukraine, announces $1 billion military assistance package

As the war between Russia and Ukraine rages on, the Biden administration continues to support the latter with a new commitment to modernizing its armed forces.

On Monday, the United States announced a multi-billion dollar security assistance package for Ukraine.

This will be the largest arms shipment since the start of the conflict in late February.

The military package

The military assistance package will bring the U.S. commitment to more than $9.8 billion and will include ammunition for armored medical transport vehicles and long-range weapons.

The US Auxiliary Set includes ammunition for HIMARS, or High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 75,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition, twenty 120mm mortar systems, and 20,000 rounds of 120mm mortar ammunition.

Also, the package includes ammunition for advanced domestic surface-to-air missile systems.

Meanwhile, HIMARS are designed to fire various missiles from a moving truck – this is Ukraine’s top priority.

Defense giant Lockheed Martin manufactures the HIMARS.

The Pentagon will also send 1,000 javelins, 50 armored medical treatment vehicles, anti-personnel munitions, explosives, high-explosive munitions and equipment, and hundreds of AT4 anti-tank systems.

Previous package

Prior to the announcement, the biggest aid package for Ukraine was announced on June 15.

At the time, the tranche was a joint effort of the Presidential Levy Authority and the Security Assistance Initiative of Ukraine.

The incoming package is strictly a presidential withdrawal authority, which means the weapons will come directly from US stocks.

Statements

Defense Undersecretary Colin Kahl said the US will not ship HIMARS in the next package, only system ammunition.

He refused to share the number of cartridges in the next shipment.

So far, the US has supplied 16 HIMARS to Ukraine.

“As we have made clear at every level of this administration, we’re committed to continued security assistance for Ukraine as they stand up to Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion,” said Kahl.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken released a statement in which he states:

“We will continue to consult closely with Ukraine and surge additional available systems and capabilities carefully calibrated to make a difference on the battlefield and strengthen Ukraine’s eventual position at the negotiating table.”

Russia

Moscow had previously accused the US of adding fuel to the fire by supplying Ukraine with long-range weapons and missiles.

Russia initially launched its invasion on February 24 and has been scaling back its war targets ever since.

Moscow shifted its military efforts to the eastern Donbass region and southern coastal cities, a decision it made when it failed to capture the Ukrainian capital.

Kahl stressed that Moscow has failed to achieve any of Putin’s “general” goals, noting that Russia has failed to implement regime change or take control of Kiev.

“They [Russian forces] have made some incremental gains in the east – although not very much in the last couple of weeks,” said Kahl.

“But that has come at extraordinary cost to the Russian military because of how well the Ukrainian military has performed and all the assistance that the Ukrainian military has gotten.”

In less than six months, Russian troops suffered between 70,000 and 80,000 casualties, including soldiers killed or wounded in action.

“The war is the most intense conventional conflict in Europe since the Second World War, but the… Ukrainians have a lot of advantages, not the least of which their will to fight,” said Kahl.

50 Consecutive Days of Gas Price Drops Show Positive Signs

On Wednesday, AAA reported that the national average for regular gasoline fell three cents, and prices dropped to $ 4.16 per gallon.

Falling pump prices continue to relieve people, especially in light of inflation and a shrinking economy.

Fuel prices

The national average price of gas has fallen for 50 consecutive days. However, on June 14, gasoline prices hit an average high of $ 5.02.

Since then, gasoline prices have fallen by 86 cents. Last month, the national average fell 65 cents.

AAA reported that nineteen states have average gas prices below $4, including Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.

The factors of the fall in prices

Lower gasoline prices can be attributed to several reasons, from fears of a recession driving down oil prices to less U.S. driving as prices surged above $5 a gallon.

“When people pay, and they see $100 for the bill, they panic and become apoplectic,” said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis at the Oil Price Information Service.

The Biden administration’s unprecedented release of emergency oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve also played a role.

However, Kloza acknowledged that it was not easy to quantify the impact.

Possibility of further price reduction

Whatever the reason, falling gas pump prices have eased the minds of consumers struggling with high prices for groceries, rent and other necessities.

While the average gas price across the country is $ 4.16 per gallon, Kloza pointed out that high prices in places like California add to the figure.

Meanwhile, OPIS reports that the average price is $ 3.99.

“This series has more room to run,” Kloza said.

The president of consulting firm Lipow Oil Associates, Andy Lipow, expects the national average to drop to $4.10 a gallon within seven to 10 days.

Lipow expects the average Labor Day price to drop to $4.

The oil situation

Oil prices fell on Wednesday, closing at levels not seen since Russia invaded Ukraine.

The losses came as a new government report revealed unexpected increases in crude oil and gasoline inventories, prompting people to worry about their energy needs.

The U.S. fell 4% to trade at $90.66 a barrel. The number is the lowest since February 10, two weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Brent, the global benchmark, fell more than 3%.

Economic crisis

Oil prices have fallen in recent days and weeks on fears of a global economic slowdown.

Barrels closed at $ 123.70 on March 8. Since then, oil prices in the United States have fallen by about 27%.

Additionally, oil prices fell Wednesday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said weekly oil inventories rose 4.5 million barrels last week amid expectations of a decline.

Meanwhile, gasoline stocks have also increased slightly.

The oil market recovered on Wednesday when OPEC + announced a deal to slightly increase production starting next month.

According to Rapidan Energy Group, the deal represents the lowest percentage increase in production in OPEC history.

Taiwan-China Tensions Could Push iPhone 14 Unveiling Later Than Expected

Apple loyalists may have to hold out a little longer, with reports circulating that the iPhone 14 may be delayed due to rising tensions between China and Taiwan.

The delay is attributed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan last week.

Pelosi’s visit

Apple is the top customer of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company or TSMC.

The company often supplies chips to Pegatron, where iPhones are assembled in China.

Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan only adds to the strained relationship between the two.

As a result, the Communist Party of China has issued new rules prohibiting any mention of Taiwan or the Republic of China in shipping documents.

The regulations suggest that some (if not all) of the hardware can be returned to Taiwan, delaying the launch of the iPhone 14.

The “One China” policy

Pelosi’s visit was deemed a violation of the “one China” policy that the United States has followed for 50 years.

The policy states that the US government “acknowledges that all Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait maintain there is but one China and that Taiwan is a part of China.”

He also claims that the United States “does not challenge that position.”

While the United States has a formal relationship with the People’s Republic of China, it also has an “unofficial” relationship with Taiwan, which was made official with Pelosi’s visit, according to the People’s Republic of China.

The result

The visit prompted the People’s Republic of China to flex its military muscle, fly 68 fighter jets off the coast of Taiwan, send warships into the Taiwan Strait, and send drones to Japan.

The People’s Republic of China has also broken off talks with the United States over earlier projects.

Pegatron

Pegatron is a renowned Taiwanese electronics company specializing in computers, communications and consumer electronics.

During the visit, the company’s vice president and senior TSMC executives were seen with Pelosi, adding fuel to the fire.

Their actions could also lead to a bitter trade war between China and Taiwan, between which Apple and other US-based companies stand.

Apple has made it clear to its supply chain that this is an urgent matter as the iPhone 14 series is being assembled.

Reports have also surfaced that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are having issues with their screens and that the camera lenses are breaking.

Other problems

With the iPhone 14 series unveiled in a few weeks, the last thing Apple needs is for shipments bound for the training assembly line to be rejected by customs and sent back to Taiwan.

The “Made in Taiwan” label on import declarations or shipping cartons from China may also result in shipments being blocked or rejected.

In addition, a fine of 4,000 yen or 592 US dollars may also be imposed.

Meanwhile, Taiwan requires all export products to carry a label indicating the shipment’s origin, meaning they must be stamped as coming from Taiwan or the Republic of China, which Chinese customs don’t want to see.

Apple has warned Taiwan-based suppliers to develop contingency plans to avoid supply chain disruptions.

Apple has also instructed its supply chain to check and process labels on cartons and forms when needed for shipments from Taiwan to China.

While the chip shortage and supply chain problems remain a thorn on Apple’s side, the company must remain diplomatic.
